Utica Man accused of repeatedly stabbing woman at Johnson Park

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman at Johnson Park in Utica.

The alleged stabbing took place Saturday night at about 11p.m.

Police found a 30-year-old woman with numerous lacerations on her head, arms, legs and torso. The woman was hospitalized. We do not yet know the identity or condition of the victim.

According to police, Samuel D. Smith, 49, Utica, struggled with officers at the time of arrest. He was also sent to the hospital for injuries.

Smith is charged with Assault, Aggravated Criminal Contempt and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
