Utica Mayor withdraws from Assembly race, announces run for re-election

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Mayor David Roefaro has announced that he is withdrawing from the race for 116th District Assembly and will refocus his efforts on running for re-election as Mayor.

According to a press release issued by the city Wednesday afternoon, Roefaro's decision was difficult one

"Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito has been instrumental in assisting the City of Utica with all issues involving the State of New York," the release states. "An effective advocate for the City of Utica is of utmost importance."

The release comes as the first official announcement that Roefaro would be running for re-election as Utica Mayor.
