Utica Music and Arts Fest set for September

By NEWSChannel 2 Staff

The 6th annual Utica Music and Arts Fest is expected to be bigger and more organized this year thanks to a new partnership and the headliner has already been secured.

American rock band "Puddle of Mudd" will perform September 14 at Hanna Park as part of the festival and tickets are $10 in advance.

The hope is that people will come to town for this show and take in local acts at local bars as well. Oneida County Tourism is pitching in with a marketing grant and Galaxy Communications is providing support to help the festival grow.

"We have bands come in from all over the United States," said Festival Director Joe Sweet. "This year, the improvement...last year was rough because it got so big. It got bigger than us and we didn't have the resources to do it as well as we'd like, but this year, this works better this year."

Four thousand people attended last year.

The event is September 13 and 14 with at least a dozen venues in the city.

Saturday will also feature a kids program with a famous chalk artist as well as GreenFest.
