Utica Police investigate Friday night's shooting

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police are looking for a person who reportedly shot another man from a passing car Friday night. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and took himself to the hospital.

According to Utica Police, officers responded to Sunset and Court Streets in West Utica around 8:30 p.m. Friday and found neither the victim nor the shooter.

The shooter reportedly fired shots from inside a passing vehicle and left the scene.

The victim, 39-year-old Hylton Chambers of Utica, took himself to Saint Elizabeth Medical Center. A spokesperson for the hospital said he was discharged Saturday morning.

An investigation into the incident is taking place. Anyone with information is asked to call the Utica Police Criminal Investigation Department at 315-223-3510.
