Utica police investigating the robberies of two handicapped residents

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police say they are investigating two separate robberies, both involving handicapped victims and both happened on Friday.

First, investigators say around 5:30 Friday evening someone pushed a 51 year old woman with a cane, into a wall in the lobby of the Olbiston Apartments on Genesee Street.

Police say the suspect reached into the woman's pockets and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a hispanic male in his 30's, about five-foot-seven, clean shaven, with a medium build, and a tattoo on his neck, wearing a dark colored fleece jacket.

Investigators say the second robbery took place around 10:40 Friday night.

A 53 year old man walking along the 1200 block of Kemble Street with a cane says someone came up from behind him, placed, what may have been a gun in the his back and demanded money.

He says the suspect then reached into his pockets, stealing an undisclosed amount of money, then grabbed his cane and threw it.

The only description of teh suspect in this case is that he had a medium build.
