Utica Rescue Mission gets plenty of turkeys for Christmas meal

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Thanks to the public, the Utica Rescue Mission will have more than enough turkeys for Wednesday's Christmas meal.

The Rescue Mission is preparing to service 1,000 people at their location on Rutger Street for the Christmas meal. The mission will have a service at noon and will serve meals and begin deliveries shortly thereafter.

The emergency shelter director says he can't thank the community enough.

"We have about 200 turkeys right now, and they continue to come in," said Ernie Talerico of the mission. "The need has been great this year, but the community has been just as great."
