Utica, Rome city pools now open

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Utica and Rome city pools are open for business, and with Tuesday's heat, it's a good day to hit them.

The three Utica pools are open 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and all five Rome pools are open from noon to 5 p.m., except for the Tausti pool, which is open from noon until 7 p.m.

Recreation directors ask that kids under 12 be accompanied by a parent. And while it's all about fun, safety is a priority.

Chet LoConti, assistant recreation director of the City of Utica, says they ask kids don't engage in horseplay or jumping.

When it gets to be 90 degrees, try to avoid strenuous exercise during the heat of the day, usually from noon to 5 p.m. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids and apply sunscreen if you're going outside.

Make sure to not leave pets or children in the car, as it doesn't take long for the interior of the car to heat up.
