Utica Zoo takes preparations for Hurricane Sandy

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Zoo is taking precautions to make sure their animals stay safe in the storm that is Hurricane Sandy.

Volunteers spent much of Monday cleaning up cages and picking up tree branches and debris.

Some exhibits and animal habitats are being boarded up to protect them against the high winds expected.

The zoo is looking into bringing in refrigerator trucks to make sure food for the animals doesn't spoil.
