By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A local accountant is accused of stealing nearly $300,000 from an elderly client. The suspect owns Podosek Accounting on Genesee Street in Utica.

Craig Podosek of Clayville is charged with four counts of grand larceny.

Police say an 85-year-old woman in a nursing home noticed some inconsistencies in her accounts back on April 30th. An extensive investigation followed. Utica Police were together with the Elder Abuse Coalition Program.

Officers say Podosek transferred money into his personal and business accounts on four separate occasions--totaling $294,000.

Officials say he was able to do this because he was her accountant and had power of attorney.
