ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Federal authorities say a 56-year-old
neurosurgeon from central New York has been sentenced to two years in prison for conspiring to illegally sell prescription drugs for profit.

Dr. Frank H. Boehm Jr. of Utica pleaded guilty to the conspiracy charge in September 2010.

Prosecutors say he wrote prescriptions to patients and another individual, described as co-conspirators, without a legitimate medical purpose for 58 grams of Oxycodone.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Brown says the drugs were used by a couple with an addiction.

Boehm gave up his state medical license and federal license to issue narcotics last year.
