(WKTV) - A Utica man faces charges after he allegedly struck a police officer in the head with a frying pan, Utica police said.
Julius Brown, 53, of Plant Street, is charged with assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and obstructing governmental administration.
According to authorities, just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, an officer responded to a home on Schuyler Street for an argument. The officer spoke with the caller, who was having problems with a man who lived in the home. The officer walked into the area where the man was yelling and asked him to come out of the kitchen. The man continued screaming, so the officer stepped into the doorway of the home.
When she did, the man allegedly appeared from behind the door and hit the officer in the head with a frying pan. The officer was able to restrain the man's arms and take him to custody. She sustained a head wound and was treated at the hospital.
