Utica man accused of ongoing sex abuse of minor from 2008 to 2010

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man has been charged with sex abuse following an investigation into the alleged ongoing sexual assault of a minor.

According to Chief Dean Obernesser of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, Luis Ricardo Diaz, 51 has been charged with first-degree sex abuse after an investigation into a continuing sexual assault that occurred between 2008 and 2010.

Diaz was arraigned in Utica City Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $40,000 cash bail.

The case has been referred to the Oneida County District Attorney's Office for Grand Jury consideration.

The victim, whose age and gender are not being released, has been offered counseling services through the Child Advocacy Center.
