Utica man accused of threatening children with rifle

(WKTV) - A Utica man faces several charges after he allegedly threatened children with a rifle, Utica police said.

Alexander Zaishnikov, 53, of Hillcrest Avenue, is charged with seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child, seven counts of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to officials, around 3:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to Gilmore Village on a menacing complaint. Several children told officers they were playing outside and pulling leaves off a tree when a man yelled at them. The man went inside his home and is accused of returning with a rifle and threatening to shoot the children. Officers located the man and recovered a .22 rifle and a 30-06 rifle.
