UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police have made an arrest after a bizarre pair of circumstances that ended with fire  being set to the ski lifts at Val Bialas in Utica.

Albert Duffy, 55, of Utica is charged with criminal trespass, tampering and arson.

Police say Friday morning, Duffy went to M & T bank at 233 Genesee Street and was throwing garbage around in the ATM vestibule. They say he tried to put a hose under the door to the lobby and flood the bank.

Officers identified Duffy from surveillance video at the bank.

Later, at about 7:20 Friday evening, police were called to Val Bialas for a fire.

They say Duffy set fire to bails of hay at the bottom of each ski lift pole.

Fire crews had to use foam to put out the flames.

National Grid crews were called in to cut the power.
