Utica city council candidate arrested on DWI charges

(WKTV) - A Utica man was arrested Thursday on driving while intoxicated charges after an accident, New York State Police said.

Douglas M. Joslin, 56, faces charges in the Town of Trenton of DWI, moving from a lane unsafely and failing to provide a breath sample.

According to troopers, Joslin was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Mappa Avenue in the Town of Trenton. Joslin went east from Mappa, tipped the motorcycle and slid across three lanes before coming to a rest in the northbound lane of ST 12.

Joslin was not injured after further investigation was arrested. He refused to take a breath test and was arraigned in the Town of Trenton.

Joslin was sent to the Oneida County Jail on a $700 cash bond.

Joslin was running for councilman for the Utica City Council's 6th ward.

He was convicted of second degree vehicular manslaughter in 1985.
