Utica man arrested on multiple charges after physical altercations

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man has been arrested after a verbal argument became physical, early Sunday morning.
According to Utica Police, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Oswego St. for an assault. 
The victim told officers that she was in her apartment with her friend when they started to argue. 
She asked him to leave, and when she bent down to pick up something, he started to punch her in the head multiple times. 
The suspect then fled the scene. 
Shortly after, officers responded to the Olbiston Apartments for another assault. In this incident, the same suspect tired to push past a resident to get into the locked building. 
The tenant would not allow him in because he did not recognize the man. 
The suspect then repeatedly punched the victim in the face. When the victim fell, he dropped his keys. The suspect then took the victim's keys and fled. 
Police were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody. While at the police station, the suspect threw a police phone to the floor, breaking it. 

The suspect has been identified as Shaun Lawson, 29, of Utica. He has been charged with Petit Larceny, Harassment, Criminal Mischief, and Assault.
