Utica man charged in Rome homicide

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - Rome Police have made an arrest in the city's first homicide of 2013. 24-year-old Derrick Carter of Utica is charged in the murder of Charles Digristine that happened at 115 Lawrence in March.

Carter is charged with Murder, 2nd Degree, after a four-month investigation into the homicide.

50 year-old Charles Digristine was found dead on March 26th from numerous gunshot wounds.

The investigation was lead by Rome Police Detectives Ray Bolton and Eric Sochia.

Carter was arraigned in Oneida County Court and is currently being held in the Oneida County Correctional Facility.

Rome Police were assisted in this investigation by members of the Oneida County District Attorney Office, Oneida County Sheriffs office, Utica Police Department and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.
