Utica man charged with felony drug possession

(WKTV) - A Utica man faces felony drug charges after he was allegedly found with 12 bags of crack cocaine, New York State Police said.

Robert Garrett, 19, of the 1500 block of Dudley Avenue, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony.

According to state police, Garrett was stopped on Monday for walking in the roadway. Garrett had an active warrant from the Utica Police Department on a criminal mischief charge and was taken into a custody.  During a search, troopers say they found 12 individual bags of crack cocaine, which totaled about 2.7 grams.

After processing at the State Police barracks in Marcy, he was turned over to the City of Utica Police Department for arraignment.
