Utica man dead after motorcycle accident in Frankfort

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man is dead after a weekend motorcycle accident in the Town of Frankfort.

According to Frankfort Town Police, the accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. Sunday night on Route 5S in Frankfort. Authorities say Jerry Jones, 57, of Utica, was riding on 5S when he lost control of his 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle, hit the grassy part of the median, and was thrown from the bike.

ones was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with traumatic injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Route 5S was closed for roughly 4 1/2 while police reconstructed the accident.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash.
