Utica man faces drug charges after traffic stop

(WKTV) - A Utica man faces drug charges after a traffic stop in Richfield Springs, the Otsego County Sheriff's Office said.

Joseph Nathan Williams, 35, of the 1200 block of Gray Avenue in Utica, is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

According to authorities, Williams, who is currently on parole for a drug charge out of Madison County, was stopped by deputies on U.S. Route 20. Officials had received information Williams was allegedly selling cocaine in northern Otsego County. Deputies and Utica-based parole officers conducted surveillance and stopped Williams. During the stop, about four grams of individually packaged powder and crack cocaine was seized.

Williams was sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail. If convicted, Williams faces up to 15 years to life because of his criminal history.
