Utica man killed, two others hospitalized following East Utica crash

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man has succumbed to the injuries he sustained in a car accident Sunday evening at the intersection of South Street and Webster Avenue. His wife remains in critical condition.

According to Utica Police, 50-year-old Nurko Bakaran, the driver of the sedan involved in the accident, has died. His wife, 47-year-old Dula Bakaran, remains in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Also involved in the accident was a white van. The driver of that vehicle also remains in the hospital, but his identity or specific condition have not been released.

Accident reconstruction crews were called the scene to begin to determine how the crash happened. Utica Police continue to investigate the accident.

UPD is asking the public for help, if they witnessed the accident. They are asked to call 315-735-3301.
