NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 19 year old Utica man was arrested by New Hartford Police early Wednesday morning after they say he was caught driving a car that had been stolen from Utica on Tuesday afternoon

At about 1 a.m., New Hartford Police were patrolling Route 5 when an officer saw a Ford Explorer driving erratically. The Explorer was pulled over and a computer check revealed that it had been stolen from Charlotte Street in Utica and that an Arrest Warrant had been issued for the driver relative to an unrelated theft.

The driver, Rondale O. Jones, 19, of Blandina Street, Utica, was taken into custody and charged with grand larceny, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with petit larceny, relative to the warrant. Police said the petit larceny charge was for a shoplifting incident that he was involved in at the Kohl's store in New Hartford on February 14, 2012.

Jones was arraigned before a Town of New Hartford Judge and was committed Jones to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $21,000 bail. Jones' case will be continued at a later date in New Hartford court.
