Utica men face drug charges after Monday arrest

(WKTV) - Two Utica men face drug charges after a Monday afternoon arrest, Utica police say.

Orlando Cruz, 48, of Lenox Avenue, and Hector Torres-Ortiz, 45, of Bleecker Street, are charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

According to officials, around 12:30 p.m. Monday, investigators were conducting surveillance on Whitesboro Street when they saw what they believed was a drug transaction. The investigators followed the vehicle driven by the suspected sellers, and stopped them on York Street near Court. During a search of the men and the vehicle, officers found 5.2 grams of heroin.
