Sheriff: Utica men falsely report home invasion

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - Officials say two Utica men are under arrest after falsely reporting a home invasion on Rome-Oriskany Road.

Oneida County Sheriff's Officals say that 30-year-old Michael Litz, of Gram Road in Utica, reported to Oneida County 911 that four men entered a residence on Rome-Oriskany Road and assaulted him and his cousin 36-year-old Timothy Bellair, of Hulser Road in Utica.

It was also reported that these four men caused damage to the property.

Law enforcement investigated, finding their claim false.

Both men were charged with making a false statement. Litz was also charged with criminal mischief and falsely reporting an incident.

Both men are currently being held in the Rome City Lock Up.
