(WKTV) - One man is confirmed dead in a shooting at 1551 Oneida St. on Wednesday, Utica police said.
UPD officers responded to a call at 12:39 p.m. Wednesday for shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered a man who appeared to have died from a gunshot wound. The man was sitting in a car behind the home when he was shot.
Officers were still on the scene and in the area on Wednesday afternoon. The identity of the victim will be released upon positive identification by the Onondaga Medical Examiner's Office.
Police say neighbors are being cooperative, but there is still no definitive motive nor suspect in custody.
"Right now, we have our members from our criminal investigation division, as well as the ID unit and officers canvassing, trying to come up with any information we could possibly have regarding this case," Utica Police Chief Mark Williams said. "We urge anyone in the community that may have information regarding the case to please call us at 735-3301."
