Utica residents facing animal cruelty charges for sick dog
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two Utica residents are facing animal cruelty charges after their dog was found malnourished, according to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society. The dog Sophie was found ill on Dudley Avenue. Animal control confiscated the dog and sent her to Stevens-Swan. Officials at the shelter say Sophie weighs 39 pounds and should way more than 60 pounds. Her owners, 30-year-old Tiffany Payton and 38-year-old Rodney Thompson, has been charged with animal cruelty and failure to provide veterinarian care. Stevens-Swan say they have had many serious cases of animal abuse in the past and will always consider prevention and and care the animal victims to be a top priority. The shelter will also follow this case.
