(WKTV) - A Utica teen was cited for traffic violations after a one-car accident early Monday morning in the Town of Verona, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said.

According to authorities, around 12:45 a.m. Monday, Ron F. Graham, 19, of Utica, was driving a 2005 Jeep westbound on State Route 31 in the Town of Verona when he tried to pass three cars. As he attempted to pass the vehicles, authorities say he served to avoid an oncoming dump truck, went off the road into a ditch and hit a dirt pile.

Graham, along with his passengers, Admir Jusupovic, 19, of Utica, Kennedy M. Debernardis, 18, of Whitesboro and Santina M. Blair, 18, of Utica, were taken to St. Luke's hospital via ambulance for evaluation.

Graham was cited for failure to keep right and speed not reasonable.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Durhamville Fire Department and New York State Police.
