(WKTV) - A Utica woman faces two charges after she allegedly failed to get veterinarian care for her two dogs, Utica police say.

Crystal Zegarelli, 35, of Genesee Street, is charged with two counts of animal cruelty.

According to officials, on May 1, police received a report of animal abuse. Officers found that two dogs were in need of veterinary care. According to police, one had an untreated injured leg, and the other was very dirty and needed to be seen by a veterinarian.

The dogs were seized and placed in the care of a veterinarian. Based on the investigation and information the doctor gave police, Zegarelli was charged on Tuesday.
