Utica woman accused of hitting firetruck with her car

(WKTV) - A Utica woman faces charges after police say she struck a Utica Fire Department firetruck.

Linda Gigliotti, 48, of Goodrich Avenue, is charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol over 0.18 percent, leaving the scene of motor vehicle accident, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and traffic summons.

According to Utica police, around 1 a.m. Thursday, an officer was in the area of Jason Street when he saw a car driving without headlights. He followed the car and was flagged down by a UFD firefighter, who told the officer that the vehicle struck their first truck and fled.

Upon further investigation, the officer discovered the firefighters were driving south on Jason Street when they saw a car driving toward them in their lane. The sounded the airhorn, but the car struck them. The officer attempted to stop the car, which continued on to Schuyler and Oriskany streets. Police say Gigliotti's blood alcohol content was 0.20.
