Utica woman arrested after blinding another woman during fight

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Police Department announced the arrest of a woman following a vicious fight on Bleecker St., Saturday.

According to officials, on November 3rd, UPD officers responded to a call about a fight that broke out in the area Bleecker St. and Nichols St., upon which they found a female victim with a severe eye injury, as well as other facial lacerations.

The victim claimed that she was approached by another female who instigated the fight, and then proceeded to punch her in the face while holding an unknown object.

After investigating, Police determined that Carmen Ramos, 52, used a key in the fight to cause the victim a permanent loss of vision. Ramos has been charged with Assault in the !st degree, a felony.

She will answer the charges at a later date.
