Valuable train exhibit being prepped for Children's Museum

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Children's Museum in Utica is excited about a new model train exhibit, but the executive director says that's not the only reason for excitement at the Children's Museum.

Museum Executive Director Marlene Brown says that the organization plans on making an announcement on Thursday, February 2, but she remains tight-lipped about just what that announcement is.

Meanwhile, the museum has spent the last two weeks setting up a fantastic model train exhibit that they expect to have open soon, with displays that Brown says are not only exciting to watch, but also are pretty valuable, as well.

"Lionel stopped making steel trains in the 1950s because they went electronic," Brown explained. "It was only plastic after that, so any of the trains we have here that are made of steel are very valuable."

According to Brown, once the display is complete, the Children's Museum will hold a ribbon cutting to officially open the exhibit.
