Varying deadlines still loom for absentee and military ballots that could sway elections

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The first in a series of post-election day deadlines has arrived.

Tuesday, September 20 was the last day for the Oneida County Board of Elections to receive absentee ballots. Election commissioners say they will begin opening the hundreds of ballots on Wednesday.

The deadline for military ballots is Tuesday for the primaries, but for the special election to fill the 116th district Assembly seat, the deadline is 13 days after election day, Monday, September 26.

According to Oneida County Election Officials, there are enough ballots in Utica to sway the outcome of the Republican primary for the sixth ward council seat, and the Democratic primary for council-at-large.
