ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The future of the Griffiss International Airport will not be flying under the eye of its recent Aviation Commissioner, Vernon Gray, who has been let go from his post.

Gray was hired by Oneida County to be Aviation Commissioner for Griffiss International Airport in 2008. However, on Thursday the Oneida County Executive's Office confirms that they have chosen not to re-appoint Gray to the position, saying that they "wish to go in another direction."

Chad Lawrence, a current support staff member of airport maintenance will run operations until a permanent successor can be found, the County Executive's Office said.
