Veterans Day celebrations held throughout Mohawk Valley

(WKTV) - Several Veterans Day celebrations were held throughout the Mohawk Valley on Sunday to honor those who have served our nation in the Armed Forces.

In Utica, those involved with the American Legion Post 229 are proud to be part of a what has become a very moving tradition. Each year, legion members and those in the ladies auxiliary take part in the Post's annual Veterans Day Bus Trip.

The bus tour never leaves the City of Utica. It all begins at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at Oneida Square and ends at the All-Veterans Memorial at Utica's main post office. There were four other stops in between and at each, a ceremony is held and a wreath is laid.

In the Village of Whitesboro, hundreds came out to wave a flag our cheer on local veterans with the annual parade down Main Street. The event is hosted by Whitestown American Legion Post 1113 and the Whitesboro Fire Department. After the parade, a short service was held at the Village Green recognizing all veterans past and present.

In Little Falls, a ceremony called "Of Faith and Freedom: Celebrating Our Legacy of Liberty" was held at the Holy Family Parish. There were bagpipes, bugles and a flag-folding ceremony.
