SCHUYLER, N.Y. (WKTV) - One of the victims of the high speed chase and crash on Route 5 in Schuyler last week has been released from the hospital.

The car that Louise Medallis, of Frankfort, was riding in flipped on its side after being struck by a vehicle driven by Daniel Conklin, who authorities say was being pursued by Herkimer Police for a traffic violation when he refused to pull over and fled. Her sister, Gail Pietruski, 65, of Schuyler, was also in the car that was struck. She was air lifted by helicopter to University Hospital in Syracuse that day, where she later died.

Medallis has been released from St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Conklin remains under guard in the corrections wing at Upstate Medical center in Syracuse.
