Village of Oriskany comes together for celebration

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Christmas came early this year for kids and parents in the Village of Oriskany.

The celebration is called Christmas in the Place of the Nettles and happened Sunday along Utica Street in the village.

People came out to enjoy wagon rides, magic, face-painting, music, a bonfire and fireworks. Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance.

The event also featured a Zoomobile from the Utica Zoo, fire truck parade, free popcorn, hot chocolate and cookies.

"It's a community event, and for the village the size of Oriskany to have something like this and pull it off, it's special," said Shaun Kaleta, trustee of the Village of Oriskany.

This was the 10th annual celebration.
