Virginia man charged with vehicular manslaughter in weekend accident

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Virginia man accused of causing a weekend accident that killed a man on Easter Sunday has been arraigned.

William Daniels, 46, of Hopewell, Virginia, was released from the hospital Wednesday and taken to Utica City Court, where he was charged with DWI and vehicular manslaughter.

The accident at the intersection of Webster Avenue and South Street on April 24 killed Nurko Bakaran and sent Bakaran's wife to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. She was listed in serious condition as of this writing, an upgrade since the accident.

Daniels is due back in city court May 3 for a felony hearing and his bail is set at $100,000.
