Thursday is Primary Day across New York State and one hotly-contested race is that for the newly-formed 101st Assembly District, which stretches from as far north as the Town of Paris in Oneida County to as far south as Orange County, New York.
This contest pits a 27-year-old small-town mayor from downstate against the Assemblywoman currently serving in the 115th district.
The newly formed 101st Assembly District cuts a vertical swath virtually the length of the entire state.
The race pits 27 year old Brian Maher, the mayor of the Village of Walden, New York, down in Orange County, against Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney.
Also up on Thursday is the 51st senate district, where 26 year incumbent James Seward is challenged by newcomer James Blake.
Blake has been involved behind the scenes in political races, but this is his first time running for office.
Polls are open from Noon until 9 p.m.
