WKTV honored with three State Broadcasters' Awards

BOLTON LANDING, N.Y. (WKTV) - WKTV is proud to announce that the station has been presented with three awards by the New York State Broadcasters Association at the 45th annual “Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting” ceremony.

NewsChannel 2 received an award for “Outstanding Spot News” for coverage of the NBT Bank Robbery in July of 2010. Outstanding Feature News Story also went to WKTV awarded for Canoe Classic that took place in Old Forge. Also awarded to WKTV was "Outstanding Local Sporting Event" for coverage of last year's Boilermaker Road Race.

NEWSChannel 2 General Manager Vic Vetters and News Director Steve McMurray accepted the awards on the station's behalf at the ceremony that took place at the Sagamore Resort on Lake George.

Also in attendance at the ceremony was NBC Nightly News anchor and managing editor Brian Williams who received the "Broadcaster of the Year " award. Television legend Regis Philbin and "Inside Edition" anchor Deborah Norville were also given awards.

The purpose of the contest is to recognize outstanding achievement among New York’s radio and television stations.
