Waters rise in Poland, Rescue Teams prepare

By WKTV News

POLAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - The waters of the West Canada Creek are rising to record levels. Crews from several fire departments are on the scene preparing for the waters to rise even more overnight.

The water is quickly rising up past the windows of several mobile homes in the area near the Oneida Herkimer County line.

Our photographer on the scene had to keep moving as he was filming the water rescue crews because the water was moving towards him at a rapid pace. The water is expected to reach it's highest levels around 2 am Friday morning.

People who live in the area and need a place to stay can go to the Kuyahoora Community Outreach Center in Newport. The American Red Cross is set up there with food and shelter for those who can't stay at home. The Red Cross Disaster Action Team has centers set up throughout the region.

If you are affected and need some help give them a call at 315-733-4666 or 315-866-2890.
