West Dominick Street fire in Rome under investigation
Authorities in the City of Rome are calling a fire on West Dominick Street suspicious and an investigation is underway. The fire started around 3 p.m. Monday at Philly's Bar, located at 415 West Dominick Street in Rome. Authorities say a neighboring business owner had discovered the fire while bringing trash to the outside receptacle and notified the occupants. The fire was then extinguished by the occupants with a garden hose and two dry powder extinguishers. Investigators say they discovered a burn pattern that suggests an accelerant was likely used on the southwest side of the building and ground. The damage was confined to vinyl siding and wooden sheathing. Rome Police responded and the investigation is on-going.
