West Frankfort Elementary students perform for MLK Elementary in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A group of West Frankfort Elementary students took their show on the road to Utica Monday, as the school's operetta group performed "Cinderella" Monday afternoon at Martin Luther King Elementary School.

The group travels around the Mohawk Valley to various schools to put on the show. West Frankfort Music Teacher Susan Brown says the program helps the 4th and 5th grade students build self esteem.

"For experience, for the children, to bring theater to groups of children," Brown said, describing why they do it. "It is a great experience for them because they get to work in different stage settings and they have to think on their feet. It is great for problem solving skills."

This was the group's last performance on the road. Their final performances, before the school closes, will be this week at West Frankfort Elementary School.
