West Street closed as Village of Ilion finds itself underwater

By WKTV News

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - All of West Street in the Village of Ilion was shut down during the overnight hours, as the residents and officials dealt with flooding that resulted from the constant heavy rainfall throughout Wednesday and into Thursday.

The street had become a stream with all the water that moved across its surface, causing some motorists who were braving the roads to get stuck.

Police vehicles were at the ends of roads that were completely underwater, doing their best to keep people from any travel down those roads that was unnecessary.

The Village of Ilion was placed under a State of Emergency on Wednesday evening and residents were told to avoid any unnecessary travel.
