Westmoreland fire confined to attached garage

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - An attached garage sustained smoke damage following a fire Monday morning in Westmoreland.

The fire broke out around 11:10 a.m. at 5377 Bartlett Road and when crews arrived on the scene, they found an attached garage on fire.

According to Westmoreland Fire Chief Brad White, it took roughly 20 minutes to get the fire under control. The Westmoreland Fire Department received assistance in the form of a tanker from the Stanwix Heights Fire Department and one from the Clark Mills Fire Department.

Chief White said a homeowner and her two dogs were at home when the fire broke out, but all evacuated the house and are safe.

The fire started in the garage and was confined there with no damage to the house, Chief White said, adding that the fire is under investigation.
