Westmoreland man accused of giving contraband to detention resident

(WKTV) - A Westmoreland man employed as a youth division aide in Brooktondale is accused of giving a resident of a detention facility contraband, New York State Police said.

Daniel C. Wiginton, 26, of Westmoreland, is charged with promoting prison contraband.

According to officials, Wiginton works at the New York State Office of Children and Family Services Maccormick Secure Facility in Brooktondale. He is accused of giving a resident there contraband.

He was arraigned in the Town of Caroline and released on his own recognizance. He will appear in court July 21.
