Frankfort woman facing attempted murder charge

By WKTV News

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - After a stabbing in March left them both hospitalized, one of the victims has been arraigned on attempted murder and assault charges.

Police drove up to Todd Smith's parents' Westmoreland home in early March to find Smith lying in the road, bleeding. His estranged wife, Jenise Haddad Smith, had stab wounds as well. Initially, it wasn't clear to police whether the two had stabbed each other, or one stabbed the other then him or herself.

After a several-month-long investigation, police have charged Jenise Haddad Smith with attempted murder and assault. She pleaded not guilty to both and is due back in court August 3rd, at which time the Oneida County District Attorney's Office might extend a plea offer.
