Whitesboro Fire Department participates in Recruit NY

By WKTV News

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Fire departments across the New York State participated in the Fourth Annual Recruit New York Weekend, Saturday.
The purpose of the weekend is to recruit more volunteer fire fighters, while showing community members what the fire department does, day in and day out.
According to departments across the state, over the past several years it's been tough to recruit and keep volunteers.
The hope for the Whitesboro Fire Department is to recruit more volunteers so optimum protection can be provided to residents.
"Today we're going down to Whitestown Shopping Plaza," said Whitesboro Fire Fighter, Carmen Ambrose. "I believe there are two or three cars that we're going to cut up to show techniques on how we can cut a car up if someone is trapped, or pinned in a vehicle."

Recruit New York will continue for the remainder of the weekend.
