Whitesboro village dissolution vote to happen Tuesday

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - The decision of whether or not the Village of Whitesboro should dissolve goes to the public on Tuesday. Some people say they want to dissolve the village because their municipal services are duplicated and the extra government is an unnecessary expense to tax payers.

The debate started last April when the village announced they wanted to raise taxes more than 70 percent.

If the majority votes yes, a study will be done to determine the impact dissolving the Village of Whitesboro would have on residents. If they vote no, everything will remain the same.

Whitesboro Mayor Brenda Gilberti did not return our calls. In an earlier interview, she told said that dissolving the village will be very expensive and the long term savings will not be nearly as much as people think.
