Whitestown Justice Stanley Wolanin honored for 52 years of service

By WKTV News

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - He has served his community for 52 years, and on Sunday, his community thanked him for his service.

85-year-old Stanley Wolanin has been the Town Justice in Whitestown since 1959. Plenty of area leaders were on hand Sunday at Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club in New York Mills to celebrate and present proclamation and service awards.

Wolanin's son, Donald Wolanin says his father is compassionate, and anything but ordinary.

"I don't know of any other person that can marry you, bury you and jail you, all out of the same office," Donald Wolanin said. "It's kind of a unique thing."

The final award of the day for Stanley Wolanin was that the courtroom in Whitestown will now be named in his honor.
