Whittemore trial closing arguments expected Thursday

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - As the Clayton Whittemore trial entered day eight, the prosecution called a psychiatric expert of its own.

In the opinion of that expert, the slaying of Alexandra Kogut in her SUNY Brockport dorm room was a case of domestic violence, and not extreme emotional distress, as the defense has been working to prove.

The expert also testified Whittemore's childhood abuse did not play a role in Kogut's death, and the New Hartford man did suffer extreme emotional distress, but not until he realized Kogut was dying.

The prosecutionmay call one more witness on Thursday, then closing arguments will take place. The case could go to the jury on Thursday.
